The NonProfit Training
Institute
When some
people think about nonprofit organizations, they think of art
museums and symphonies. Some think of large national or
international public charities that have become recognized
institutions. Others think of small community groups offering
job training programs or soup kitchens feeding the homeless.
At the
NonProfit Training Institute (NPTI), we think of all of these.
We also think of the Underground Railroad and the Civil Rights
Movement. And we think of churches, schools and
people--organizing to assist the elderly, the young and the
handicapped. Then we think of people walking out into their
communities and, along with seeing needs, they see a vision of
how they might work to address those needs. Then they help
others to see the vision and become inspired to join them in the
work. From joblessness to hopelessness, from economic
development to social outreach, and from health care to elderly
care, the Nonprofit Training Institute serves the needs of
committed visionaries who dream of making a positive impact on
the problems in their communities. NPTI works to make dreams
become a reality. The visionaries start with a vision and a
commitment to give birth to a missionary endeavor. We hold
their hands and help them deliver.
The Mission of
the NonProfit Training Institute is to promote excellence in the
establishment and continued survival of viable community
organizations. NPTI accomplishes this by providing technical
assistance and training for emerging, new and established
nonprofits and by advocating the adoption of professional ethics
and standards for community organizations. In addition, NPTI
encourages volunteerism and sponsorship for the most worthy
community endeavors.
The
NonProfit Training Institute is an Internal Revenue Service
recognized 501©(3) public charity based in Atlanta, Georgia

Community Referrals Membership Program
(Anticipated)
Frequently Asked Question’s
1. Can I transfer all of my CRC’s to another NPTI member, or
am I required to apply some of them to my own training?
CRC’s are entirely transferrable and there is no requirement
that the owning member take training classes with NPTI
before or after they transfer ownership to another NPTI
member.
2. Can I increase my Extended Referral Community beyond 125
members and receive additional Community Referral Credits?
The Class 3 CRC level gives an NPTI member $2500 in free
training and this amount could possibly enable the member to take all of
the classes currently being offered by NPTI and have an
additional amount that may be used to re-take classes in the
future or assist some other member who may need training for
which they have not accumulated sufficient credits. ERC’s
maximize at 125 members so that NPTI can focus on its
own missionary endeavor instead of becoming overburdened
with the record keeping required to follow the natural
referral expansion into perpetuity.
3. Can I bring my referred memberships to the registration
desk to pay for a particular class?
Referred memberships must be recorded in NPTI’s system at
least one week before they can be applied to a particular
class. This allows NPTI adequate time to process the
membership and apply appropriate credit to everyone in the
Extended Referral Community.
4. How will I know when my ERC reaches the Class 2 or Class
3 level?
An NPTI Membership Coordinator (MC) monitors CRC levels and
is responsible for sending notifications to members when
they reach the Class 2 and Class 3 levels. In addition,
Class Level notifications with remaining CRC totals are
placed on the NPTI membership list. That list is scheduled
to be posted on the NPTI website in the near future.
5. Do CRC’s expire?
NPTI
members have up to five years to either use their CRC credits or
to transfer them for use to other members.
6. Can
non members use CRC’s?
CRC’s
are designed exclusively for use by NPTI members and may only be
accumulated by or transferred to current NPTI members for use.
7. Can
the 5% (5 percent) member discount be applied in addition to CRC
credits to make up the total cost of a training fee.
The
five percent NPTI membership discount may only be applied to
training class fees that do not also use CRC credits.
If Community Organization Leadership (COL) classes are
being taken individually, CRC credits may be applied to one or
more of the classes, while the 5% discount is applied to
others. Both the CRC credit and the 5% discount may not be
applied to fees for the same class.
8. What is the cost of the Annual GCESCO Conference
Registration?
The
average cost for the regular Registration during its first six
years was $94. In 2008, the Registration will not exceed $300.
9. If
my membership lapses, would I loose my CRC credits?
Former NPTI members will be given a 120-day grace period to
renew their memberships before their CRC’s are permanently
erased from NPTI records. In such cases, the new membership
process would be applied.
10. When do
I need to renew my membership?
NPTI memberships last for one year. They should be renewed no
later than the anniversary date of the initial membership date.
NPTI Memberships may be obtained up to five years in advance.
