Since the first GCESCO Conference took place in
August of 2000, a host of notable & distinguished
citizens of Georgia have stepped forward to endorse
and support this important community effort. Hear
what some of them have had to say about the value of
the work of The
NonProfit Training
Institute.
Carolyn and I served as Honorary Chairs for the
first three Georgia Conferences on Ethics &
Standards during the establishment of the
87 Standards of Excellence for
Community
Service
Organizations
operating in the State of Georgia. It is now our
distinct pleasure to serve as Honorary Hosts for the
Annual Georgia Conference while NPTI continues its
year round effort to bring the establishment of the
standards to a new level. They are working on the
development of a design for voluntary accreditation
for nonprofits. Along the way, they are examining
the issues that relate to this concept and how its
adoption as a practice will impact even the smallest
grass roots organizations.
The Honorable Ambassador and Mrs. Andrew Young
GCESCO, 2003
This
conference again brings together community
organizations from throughout the state, providing a
forum to share ideas and develop concepts that will
improve the quality of life for countless Georgians.
I applaud the conference participants’ commitment to
the development and implementation of professional
ethics and operating standards for community based
organizations in Georgia. Additionally, as an
Honorary Co-Chair of this event, I am delighted to
know that the [...] NonProfit Training Institute is
dedicated to increasing the level of community
service in our state.
Congressman John Lewis Member of Congress, Georgia
GCESCO, 2001
I
commend [the NonProfit Training Institute] for
providing extensive training programs and setting
high standards for community organizations in
Georgia. Your important work facilitates the growth
of community organizations and expands their
services to improve the lives of countless
Georgians. Thank you for your commitment to making
this state a better place to live, work and raise a
family.
The Honorable Cathy Cox Secretary of State, Georgia
GCESCO, 2001
There
is no better organization to spearhead the effort in
helping community leaders deal directly with the
everyday challenges of leading and managing
nonprofit organizations than The Nonprofit Training
Institute.
The Honorable Michael L. Thurmond Commission,
Georgia Department of Labor GCESCO, 2002
[The]
NonProfit Training Institute empowers community
organization leaders to develop sound
infrastructures or the community-based programs.
Currently in collaboration with Clark Atlanta
University and Atlanta One-Stop Capital Shop, they
are working with many community leaders throughout
Atlanta. The City of Atlanta commends you for the
effect you have had on the community.
The Honorable Shirley Franklin Mayor, City of
Atlanta GCESCO, 2002
The
Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials
warmly congratulates the NonProfit Training
Institute on the occasion of the Georgia Conference
on Ethics & Standards for Community Service
Organizations at Clark Atlanta University...Your
work in providing a comprehensive training and
technical assistance program[s] for new and emerging
community service organizations, combined with the
assistance you offer in helping organizations to
achieve nonprofit status, is highly commendable.
NPTI is a great asset to the community.
The Honorable Tyrone Brooks President, Georgia
Association of Black Elected Officials and Member of
the Georgia House of Representatives GCESCO, 2001
In
development over the past two years, the “Standards
of Excellence for Community Service Organizations
Operating in the State of Georgia” is a resource to
provide community service organizations with a means
to restore trust as the hallmark of the nonprofit
sector. These standards of excellence will further
allow nonprofit organizations to identify specific
policies and procedures for optimum operations, as
well as clarify the understanding of service
principles.
I commend the
NonProfit Training Institute and the more than 50
volunteers and 35 organizations that collaborated to
produce this historic document...
Vernon Jones Chief Executive Officer, DeKalb County,
Georgia GCESCO, 2002
In
a community filled with people of great needs, but
little organizational expertise and skills, NPTI
provides outstanding leadership in technical
assistance and training for new and emerging
community organizations. When the passion for
people is priority and primary purpose, adaption of
NPTI[s] professional ethics and standards for
community organization[s] ensures no lack or slack
in operating at a level of excellence in business.
Pastor Darrell D. Elligan Senior Pastor, True Light
Baptist Church President, Concerned Black Clergy
NPTI Alumni, Fall Class of 2002
The
family of CAU [Clark Atlanta University] appreciates
the importance of dedicated individuals and
organizations who work to make a difference at the
grass roots level in their communities. We also
support the work of The NonProfit Training Institute
in its efforts to strengthen community-based
outreach...The work of the Fourth Annual Georgia
Conference on Ethics & Standards represents
significant progress in the movement to improvement
the community service sector in Georgia. We applaud
your convening of diverse thinking from throughout
the philanthropic sector to review the powerful
issue represented in the discussion on “Voluntary
Accreditation.”
Dr. Walter D. Broadnax President, Clark Atlanta
University GCESCO, 2003
I
would like to commend The NonProfit Training
Institute (NPTI) on its outstanding program. NPTI
provides an invaluable service to nonprofit
organizations and our community. As a practicing
attorney for the past eleven years, I have had the
opportunity to work closely with numerous nonprofit
organizations. Although the directors and staff
members were truly dedicated to their respective
causes, many were ill equipped to effectively run
their agencies. Consequently, these agencies are no
longer in existence and the numbers of the
undeserved and under represented continue to
surge...
Since
completing the training classes, I have developed
into a more successful fundraiser. As the sole
planned giving officer at Spelman College, I have
noticed a marked increase in my solicitation and
“closing” of planned giving donations since I
graduated from NPTI’s training programs. I have
closed the deal on several bequests, charitable gift
annuities, and a substantial gift of real estate. I
am confident that fundraising, marketing strategies,
strategic planning, and effective governance have
contributed greatly to my recent success.
Marion Parker Planned Giving Officer Spelman College
NPTI Alumni, Spring Class, 2001
The classes of
the NonProfit Training Institute provide a wealth of
information on how to found, build and develop a
nonprofit. Through the combination of comprehensive
reading materials, class lectures, guest speakers,
and the use of resources outside the classroom, the
NonProfit Training Institute fully equips
individuals with a knowledge and understanding about
the skills, information, and resources needed to
administer and cultivate a successful nonprofit...As
a student of both “501(c)(3) The Workshop” and the
Community Organization Leadership Training Program,
I enthusiastically and wholeheartedly endorse and
support the work of Jackquelyn Johnson and the
NonProfit Training Institute.
